Artist Biography
 
Ming-Yu Lin was born in 1972, Taiwan. She worked in multimedia and video related filed for five years before she came to United States for her graduate study on Creative Arts (Interdisciplinary Arts) at San Francisco State University, CA, 1999. She has a BA degree in Western Literature and has strong interested in critiques on pop culture, ex. sci-fi. genre movies and technology mania. She has collaborated with animator Pu-Teng Chang since 1998 under the name of P& M Studio.In addition to create animation, interactive installation and multimedia, Ming-Yu Lin also produces documentary and experimental video with other performers, writers and art education organization.
 
Pu-Teng Chang was born in 1972, Taiwan. He came to the United States for his graduate study on Computer Art in Academy Of Art College and earned his MFA in June 2002. He earned his BS degree in Geology from National Taiwan University and studied architecture for two years. Pu-Teng Chang has strong interest in 3D character animation, with both CG and puppet animation. He has collaborated with videographer Ming-Yu Lin since 1998 and together they formed P & M Studio to produce stop-motion animation, 3D CG animation, interactive web and multimedia installation. The goal of P & M Studio is to integrate traditional animation and puppetry with computer graphics and animation and explores new language of animation.

The Robot's Blood is Black (May 2002) -- A highly stylized film noir animation about a melancholy robot killer's sufferings of terminating or protecting human life. Integration of 3D CG animation and claymation. Official selected into:

  • No Strings Attached (May 2001) -- A multimedia interactive installation featuring a robotics puppetry, animation and Director movie.

    Tai-Lang’s Dream
    (April 2001)

    -- A stop-motion animation about a lonely robot's sadness and dream. Shot with mini DV and done composting with other 3D graphics and F/X in computer.
    -- Has been selected by iFilm, an on-line film showcase for continuous screening.
    Mission Impossible X (December 2000) -- A stop-motion animation parody of Hollywood action movie and critique on monopoly Microsoft, drug addiction and military race. Shot with mini DV and done composting with other 3D animation, found footage and F/X in computer.
    Ceremony Of Fear (November 1999) -- An experimental short movie about the nightmare of child abuse. Shot with mini DV and done composting with other 3D animation in computer.
    Brave New World (November 1998) -- A stop-motion animation inspired by the sci-fi masterpiece about the post-human apocalypse. Shot with mini DV and done composting with other 2D graphics in computer.
